Hotel Pausania is an ancient palace of the XIV century, one time rich and luxurious dwelling of a noble venetian family and today, completely restored, one of the most beautiful, elegant and refined three star hotels of Venice. Besides, few hotels, like the Pausania, can enjoy one of the best locations in the city - in an extremely fascinating sestiere (typical Venetian street), for this good reason preferred from intellectuals and artists in search of quiet and inspiration - and boast, moreover, many and such valuable testimonies of its past of patrician dwelling, both inside and outside, beginning from a wide and very beautiful gothic four-light window. While as soon as foot is placed inside, you run into a pure architectonic jewel, constituted by a small and graceful entrance court - typical of the Venetian noble palaces - whose vision as a whole is extremely evocative and spectacular, one above all for who run into it for the first time, and in which dominates a true and arrogant well-curb of the XIVth century. Moreover, worthy of famous is a majestic scale of access to what a time was the noble plan of the palace - which today accommodates the rooms of the second floor, distributed around a wide hall - which is delimited by a valuable gotic balustrade, still in optimal state, and protect along its flights, by a solid wooden shed covered of very old Venetian tiles and amazingly supported only from two apparently fragile small coloumns made of Istria stone. A walk in the outskirts of the hotel, also limited to its more immediate surroundings, usually reserves to our guests not little surprises, invariably pleasant and interesting, most times giving them, as well as pleasure and satisfaction for these last ones, the confirmation of the happiness of the choice made. |
